She has been teaching the Choir at the Franjo Kuhač Music School in Osijek since 1997.  Mješoviti pjevački zbor Glazbene škole Franje Kuhača Osijek (Mixed choir of the Franjo Kuhač Music School Osijek) is one of the most successful mixed youth ensembles in Croatia. The choir specializes in a cappella music from the Renaissance to the 21th century. In addition, the choir has also sung many works of well-known Croatian composers, like Zlatko Grgošević, Ivan Brkanović, Josip Kaplan, Vinko Žganec, Boris Papandopulo, Adalbert Marković, Marko Ruždjak, Igor Kuljerić, Emil Cossetto, Ivan Matetić-Ronjgov, Tomislav Uhlik, Davor Bobić and Ivan Josip Skender.

Mješoviti pjevački zbor Glazbene škole Franje Kuhača Osijek (Mixed choir of the Franjo Kuhač Music School Osijek) was founded in 1953. The first significant result of the assembly is made in 1984 when the Girls choir performed at the Croatian youth music festival in Varaždin and won the medal "for best artistic impression." That same year the choir has performed in international competition in Italy, where they won second prize. In 1986 Girls choir again performed at the festival of Croatian choirs in Varaždin and this time choir won the Intermediate trophy for best interpretation of song composed by Croatian composer of Croatian Composers Society.

At the national competition of students of music held 1998th in Rijeka the ensemble is for the first presented as a mixed choir. Under the leadership of Vesna Svalina ensemble has won first prize. In 1999 the choir has won a gold medal in the Mixed Youth Choir category of the 42nd Croatian Youth Music Festival in Varaždin. In next years choir regularly participated at the Croatian Competitions of students of music in Rijeka, Varaždin, Primošten and Zagreb (2000 - 1st prize, 2002 - 1st prize, 2004 - 2nd prize, 2006 - 2nd prize, 2010 - 1st prize, 2012 - 2nd prize, 2014 - 2nd prize, 2016 - 1st prize) as well as the Croatian Youth Music Festival in Varaždin (2001, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011 - all gold medals and frist prizes in the category of youth mixed choirs). On the 44th Croatian Youth Music Festival Mješoviti pjevački zbor Glazbene škole Franje Kuhača Osijek and conductor Vesna Svalina received a special award for the best performance of the compulsory song while on the 51st Croatian youth music festival (2008) unless 1st place and gold medal choir also won the Intermediate trophy of Croatian Composers Society for best interpretation of song composed by Croatian composer (Gora, gora visoka si by Emil Cossetto). At the Croatian Competitions of students of music in 2010 (Primošten) and 2016 (Zagreb) the ensemble was awarded first prizes in the category of youth mixed choirs and the highest points among all competing choirs from all categories (2010 - 99,47 points; 2016 - 99,02 points).

In 2010 the choir has also won a gold medal and 1st prize in category youth choirs at 8th International Choir Festival & Competition Venezia in Musica (Italy). In 2012 the choir participates in international competition 23° Concorso Internazionale di Canto Corale (Verona, Italy) in the category D1 (youth choir with traditional program) and won the silver medal. The choir competed even in the International competition Golden Linden (2013) in Tuhelj (Croatia). He competed in two categories (classical choral music and folk choral music) and in both categories won gold medals. In 2014 the choir has won two gold medals at 12th International Choir Competition & Festival Bad Ischl 2014 (Austria): gold medal and 1st prize in category G3 (mixed youth choirs) and gold medal in category F (folklore). In 2015 the choir has won a gold medal and 1st prize in category youth choirs at 31st International Youth Choir Festival in Celje (Slovenia). Vesna Svalina received a special award in Celje (2015) for the artistically most convincing conductor.

Choir's activities are marked today with regular a cappella performances in Osijek and in other town in Croatia. In 2006 ensemble has participated in performance of Mozart's Requiem in the Osijek Summer of Culture.

Nastavu Zbora vodi u Glazbenoj školi Franje Kuhača Osijek od 1997. godine.  Mješoviti zbor Glazbene škole Franje Kuhača u Osijeku čini oko pedeset članova u dobi 15 do 22 godine. Zbor je specijaliziran za izvođenje a capella glazbe od razdoblja renesanse sve do glazbe 21. stoljeća. Svojim radom, vrijednošću interpretacije i kompaktnošću glasova ovaj je zbor izrastao u red najcjenjenijih omladinskih mješovitih zborova u Hrvatskoj.

Zbor je osnovan 1953. godine kad je započeo svoje djelovanje pod vodstvom prof. Ivana Gorenšeka. Od tada zbor povremeno djeluje i kao djevojački ansambl, a u radu se izmijenio i veći broj dirigenata. Od 1997. godine do današnjih dana zbor kontinuirano vodi doc. dr.sc. Vesna Svalina. Pod njezinim dirigentskim vodstvom zbor je do sada osvojio 17 prvih nagrada - 11 državnih i 6 međunarodnih.

Na državnom natjecanju učenika i studenata glazbe održanom 1998. godine ansambl se po prvi put predstavio kao mješoviti zbor i pod vodstvom Vesne Svaline osvojio I. nagradu. Nakon toga na istom je natjecanju natupio i 2000., 2002., 2004., 2006., 2010., 2012., 2014. i 2016. godine. Posebno treba izdvojiti nastupe zbora na 48. i 54. hrvatskom natjecanju učenika i studenata glazbe i plesa (Primošten, 2010. i Zagreb, 2016.) kada je osvojio prve nagrade i najveći broj bodova u svojoj kategoriji (mješoviti četveroglasni ili peteroglasni zborovi) te postao apsolutni pobjednik natjecanja u disciplini Zborovi (2010. - 99,47 bodova; 2016. - 99,02 bodova).

Na Glazbenim svečanostima hrvatske mladeži u Varaždinu zbor je šest puta osvojio zlato (1999., 2001., 2005., 2007., 2008. i 2011. godine). 2001. godine na tom je natjecanju zboru dodijeljena i posebna nagrada za najbolju izvedbu obvezne skladbe (Dmitrij Stepanovič Bortnjanski: Dođite proslaviti Gospodina pjesmom), a 2008. godine prijelazni pehar za najbolje izvedenu skladbu domaćeg autora (skladba Emila Cossetta: Gora, gora visoka si).

Zbor je još nastupio na šest međunarodnih festivala i natjecanja. To su bili festivali Venezia in Musica (Lido di Jesolo, Italija - 2010.), 23° Concorso Internazionale di Canto Corale (Verona, Italija - 2012.), Zlatna lipa (Tuhelj, Hrvatska - 2013.), International Choir Competition Bad Ischl 2014 (Bad Ischl, Austrija - 2014.), 31. Mednarodni mladinski pevski festival v Celju (Slovenija - 2015.) i 53. Montreux Choral Festival (Montreux, Švicarska - 2017.). Posebno su značajni nastupi na međunarodnim zborskim natjecanjima u Sloveniji (Celje), Austriji (Bad Ischlu) i Italiji (Venezia in Musica). Na 31. Mednarodnom mladinskom pevskom festivalu v Celju (Slovenija) (2015.) zbor je osvojio zlatnu diplomu i prvo mjesto, a stručni žiri dodjelio je i posebnu nagradu dirigentici Vesni Svalini za najuvjerljiviji dirigentski nastup. Na međunarodnom natjecanju u Bad Ischlu ansambl je osvojio dvije zlatne diplome (u kategoriji G3 - zborovi mladih i F - folklor), prvo mjesto u G3 kategoriji te pravo sudjelovanja na završnom Grand Prix-u.Na natjecanju Venezia in Musica (2010.) osvojio je zlatnu diplomu i prvo mjesto u kategoriji G3 (zborovi mladih) i sudjelovao je na završnom Grand Prix-u natjecanja
